Tom Thomson Country Plein Air Paddling art Adventure series Presents
A unique series of forums to explore the landscape that inspired the canoeist, artist and visionary Tom Thomson in his rural roots in Grey and Bruce county, as well Algonquin Provincial Park. We visit these wild places that were influential to Tom Thomson's works beneath the towering Niagara Escarpment cliffs, rivers, inland lakes, vast blue waters of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron and Algonquin where the birth place of Canadian iconic art began.
Paint and Paddle 101The canoe was such an influential part of Tom Thomson's life being the vehicle that took him to the inspirational places he loved to capture on canvas. This tour will introduce you to the art of basic paddling and canoe tripping, as well, what is required to explore your own plein air art adventures. The choice of spending the night out under the stars is an option and a recommended experience on this tour. Here you will learn camp craft and techniques to stay comfortable on longer plein air canoeing tours (Alternative accommodation is also available).

This tour will be guided in the Bruce Peninsula, as well Grey County and take in the spectacular sights of the rugged beauty of the Niagara Escarpment by canoe. A certified O.R.C.K.A. canoe tripping guide will lead on the water while proffessional artist Rayne Tunley will mentor participants through a progression of techniques cumulating in a final critique of pieces created by participants on this tour.

This tour will take in the sights, sounds and inspirations where the famous artist developed his painting style and influenced other famous Canadian artists to come.
